01. Our Story
F&S Yamaha was started in 1987 by Bob Sell and Terry Frock — hence the name F&S, which stands for Frock & Sell. It began with the purchase of a Yamaha snowmobile franchise from an existing Yamaha dealer that Bob had worked for as a technician and from whom Terry had purchased his own snowmobiles. With the retirement of the existing owners, Bob and Terry — both avid snowmobile enthusiasts — saw a great opportunity..
In their first year, they ran the business out of a very small barn. The second year, they built what would become the start of the current location. Around that same time, the Johnson/Evinrude outboard franchise was acquired from Bob’s father, who owned and operated W.E. Sell Sporting Goods in Hanover. The franchise had been held by Bob’s father since 1954, making it a very natural and easy transition.
Within a couple of years, F&S had grown the business tremendously. Their sales soon reached the level of being Yamaha’s largest snowmobile dealer in Pennsylvania, as well as one of the largest Johnson outboard dealers in the region. A few years after that, they had grown into one of the largest Yamaha snowmobile dealers on the entire East Coast. Throughout all of this rapid growth, their Yamaha customer service scores — as reported directly by the manufacturer — consistently ranked in the top 1% of thousands of Yamaha dealers across the country. Today, this measure is known as the Yamaha CSI Report Card, and it remains a source of pride for the F&S team to this day.
